Portrait of Koen Schoolmeesters

Languages: English

Koen was immediately enthusiastic about the evidence-based clinical reasoning framework of Kinetic Control. “Kinetic Control offered me a library of evidence-based clinical knowledge but with some spare places left for integrating all the clinical and theoretical experiences I had already built up. Everything became so much easier and so much more logical since I attended my first KC course.”

In Koen’s opinion, musculoskeletal complaints and symptoms are often caused by movement dysfunction. The keystone to successful rehabilitation is to make a patient conscious of their movement dysfunction and for them to take ownership in learning how to address their own individual movement patterns — all in consideration with the personal, psychosocial and environmental features of the patient, of course.

Koen is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist based in Gelrode, Belgium, completing his Master’s degree in 1990 at the University of Leuven and continuing postgraduate education in Sports Physiotherapy. Since then he has consolidated and expanded his knowledge with an extensive programme of musculoskeletal rehabilitation courses. Additionally, he has also completed his manipulative therapy studies at SOMT in the Netherlands.

In 1991, Koen established his clinic in Gelrode called “Move To Heal.” Since 2004 Koen has also been a practical assistant in postgraduate education Manual Therapy (faculty of Physiotherapy FaBeR at University of Leuven).

As a passionate cyclist, he experiences and enjoys the overall benefits of moving.
